A fishing trip on a yacht in Abu Dhabi allows beginners and anglers to enjoy water with friends or family. However, the trip requires preparation and an understanding of fishing licences, permitted areas, protected species, and safety rules. Equipment is only one part of the experience; organisation and compliance are equally important.
Do You Need a Fishing Licence?
The Environment Agency – Abu Dhabi states that recreational fishing in the emirate requires a weekly or annual licence. A recreational weekly fishing licence can be requested through TAMM. If you book with a fishing company, ask whether its commercial licence covers participants. Do not assume that you are covered without written confirmation.
Where Can You Fish?
Recreational fishing is prohibited in restricted areas, oil and gas zones, and certain marine protected areas. Abu Dhabi Maritime safety maps identify restrictions and permitted activities. Some species may also be subject to seasonal bans, size limits, or catch restrictions. Review current Environment Agency guidance before departure and release prohibited catches correctly.
When Is the Best Time?
Early morning or a period near sunset may offer more comfortable temperatures. However, catching fish is never guaranteed and depends on the season, weather, currents, and location. Follow the captain’s guidance because the route or timing may change with sea conditions.
Equipment and Preparation
Ask what the package includes, such as rods, lines, bait, storage boxes, water, or other equipment. Bring comfortable clothing, sunscreen, and a hat. Keep hooks, knives, and other sharp tools secured away from seating and walking areas.
Choose the Yacht and Duration
Explore our yachts and sea trips, then compare capacity, facilities, and duration. Tell the booking team how many people will fish, their experience level, and the trip objective.
